Dynamic fall arrest system for offshore technician transfers

The Offshore Wind Accelerator (OWA) and the G+ Global Offshore Wind Health and Safety Organisation, and their offshore wind farm developer partners (the Challengers) are seeking a dynamic fall arrest system that understands the difference between a fall and normal movement from wave action. The winning business(es) in this competition will be given a commercial opportunity to deliver their solution to the, and receive support from the KTN, ORE Catapult and the wider InnovateUK network.

Construction of Neart na Gaoithe offshore wind farm project to go ahead following financial agreements.

Forth & Tay Offshore would like to take this opportunity to congratulate EDF and the NNG team for reaching a Financial Investment Decision on the project. NNG, combined with the first phase SSE Seagreen project, will see around 1.5GW of offshore wind capacity deployed in the Forth and Tay estuaries by 2023 marking the region’s emergence as one of the key offshore wind clusters in the UK – this level of regional deployment will likely outstrip construction in the whole of North America across the corresponding period.

Bilateral UK and US offshore wind R&D programme

Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation, will invest up to £1.5 million in UK companies partnering with US consortia to work on projects as part of the $40 million US National Offshore Wind Research and Development Consortium programme (NOWRDC).

ORE Catapults Launch Academy is finally up and running!

The Launch Academy is a national technology accelerator programme for the offshore wind industry, focusing on near to market solutions. Designed to enhance the UK’s offshore wind supply chain, enable greater UK content and support cost reduction through innovation.
