Case studies

After identifying cracks in structural welds during routine NDT inspections on an oil rig in Dundee docks, CFMS personnel proposed, designed and then delivered a bespoke solution to repair structural weld failure while an oil rig was berthed in Dundee docks. This solution avoided the need for dry dock repairs and saved client millions in lost revenue and contractual penalties.

Work Scope • Planned bespoke operation including sourcing of personnel and parts • Carry out UWILD of three spud cans • Clean spud cans • Inspect welds using visual and NDT • Any other work required by the client Additional work • Provide cost effective solutions to any problems found. • Design and supply equipment to solve problems. • Supply extra personnel to ensure the correct running of equipment. • Organise different trades to ensure the safe and timely fitting of innovative solution to the client’s problem.

CFMS were contracted by a major utilities company and regular client to conduct operations including the provision of diving support for laying fibre optic cables in the Irish sea.

CFMS Work Scope • Supply cable pull support • Locate and cut buried cables • Anchor cut cables using DMA’s • Video survey of cable on the seabed • Fit cable protection • Any other work required by the client Additional work • Provide UXO consultancy expertise • Move cable onto correct RPL • Remove cable from undiscovered wreck • Trench cable down 1mtr into the seabed • Organise delivery and storage of extra cable protection
