Beatrice Offshore Windfarm is one of the largest private investments in Scottish infrastructure and, on becoming operational in 2019, was Scotland’s largest offshore wind farm and the fourth largest wind farm in the world, with 84 turbines and an installed capacity of 588 MW.

Arcus was appointed by Beatrice Offshore Wind Limited (BOWL) to provide environmental consultancy support for Beatrice Offshore Wind Farm EIA application. Subsequently, the Arcus team was appointed under separate contract to undertake the lead EIA consultant for the onshore transmission works associated with the offshore wind farm. This involved managing the EIA and undertaking a number of technical assessments of the transmission route running ~20km. Arcus’ key role as Environmental Consultant and Environmental Advisor throughout the lifetime of the project, from the planning process to construction, has demonstrated exceptional management of the project’s environmental sensitivities, whilst appropriately balancing planning risk, and received positive feedback from statutory consultees in relation to the quality of the documents and reports produced. Arcus worked on the project throughout its lifetime, providing a range of different services under repeat contracts which were critical to the successful delivery of Beatrice Offshore Windfarm
Levenmouth Demonstration Turbine, EIA and Consenting for 2B Energy as a 2 bladed machine, subsequently a revised proposal for a 3 bladed 6MW test turbine including the first marine licence variation and secondly, the first life extension for an offshore wind turbine
