Case studies

2019 asked to provide the lifting elements for Tarmac to replace their primary crusher at Ravelrig Quarry crusher weight 58t . We were asked because we won their supply of cranes tender. The task was complicated by virtue that cranes could not exceed 300t because of access issues and that the crusher was buried within a very tall crusher house. The overall project had to be completed within 2 weeks because the stockpile of material within the quarry would keep them going 2 weeks

Contract type: tendered rates

Value: £48,500

We provided heavy cranes , lift plans, slingers and lift supervisors. We used the ballast lorries on site to move out and move in redundant and replacement parts respectively. We co-ordinated our shifts to suit the principal engineering lead shift patterns and brought our element of the project to a successful conclusion on budget and within the time scale permitted. There were no safety incidents or near misses on a 2000 plus man hour project which pleased Tarmac more than anything

Simpsons Malt in Berwick rang our out of hours number on a Sunday Morning 3am- electrical motor operating within the aeration/ drying house had burnt out. The site had to have that motor replaced immediately because of the volume of grain in the process pipeline. they needed a crane within 2 hours and we delivered not only a crane but lift plans, slinger signaller and a lift supervisor/ AP

Contract type: CPA Hire

Value: £1500

The work of lifting out the old motor and lifting in the replacement from their stock was straightforward, what was impressive was that we could mobilise a team and be on site 35 miles distant within 2 hours.from a standing start in the middle of the night. We were finished the task by 11 AM on Sunday morning.
