Case studies

BorWin 3 HVDC Converter– Offshore Grid Connection, TenneT Country: Germany Duration: April 2014 - September 2019 Capacity: 900MW The BorWin gamma platform houses a 900MW connection for two offshore windfarms. The HVDC station converts the alternating current produced by the wind turbines to direct current before transmitting it onshore to the German national grid, where it will be able to supply more than one million households.

Petrofac in consortium with the Siemens, the HVDC Equipment OEM, is responsible for the for EPCI of the BorWin3 offshore facilities. Petrofac delivered an integrated topside and jacket solution.

Galloper OWF Platform – HVAC Substation, Galloper OWF Ltd Country: United Kingdom Duration: April 2015 - December 2017 Capacity: 336MW In support of this project, Petrofac will provide topside and jacket foundation designs, fabrication, transport and installation of the offshore substation and offshore logistics to support hook up and commissioning while GE will provide overall electrical system design.
