Harland & Wolff win NnG wind farm contract

Scottish yard secures key fabrication contract for major wind farm off the coast of Fife

Harland & Wolff are to manufacture eight turbine jacket foundations at their newly acquired yard in Methil, Fife, for use at Neart na Gaoithe (NnG) offshore wind farm. The £26m contract is due to commence on 1 July and is anticipated to support around 260 jobs.

 

Today’s news follows previous wins in the Forth and Tay Offshore cluster region including:

  • Forth Ports securing the contract to assemble NnG’s 54 turbines at Port of Dundee
  • Eyemouth Harbour being selected to serve as the O&M base for NnG
  • Partac being appointed to conduct marine surveys
  • Montrose Bag Company being contracted to supply staff and contractors kit bags
  • The appointment of StormGeo to provide weather intelligence and advanced data science
  • A contract for Merrick Training to provide training for off-road driving skills

 

Construction of EDF Renewables’ 450MW Neart na Gaoithe (NnG) offshore wind farm is currently underway 15.5 km off the Fife coast. The project covers an area of approximately 105 km² and is due for completion in 2023.

Fit 4 Offshore Renewables (F4OR) is a unique service to help the UK supply chain get ready to bid for work in the offshore renewable energy sector. The objective of the programme is to support the development of an increasingly competent, capable and competitive UK offshore renewable energy supply chain – maximising opportunity for the UK supply chain, both domestically and globally.

F4OR is a journey of business improvement and sector specific capability building. It uses a proven process which typically takes 12 to 18 months. The F4OR Team will support you through each step, but F4OR will demand commitment and drive from your senior management team.

Expressions of interest for the North East Scotland programme for 2021, delivered in partnership with Opportunity North East (ONE), will open on Monday 18th January 2021. If you are interested in being considered for this programme, please complete an expression of interest form.

2021 Decarbonisation Accelerator programme for Scotland

Calling all innovators - 2021 Decarbonisation Accelerator programme for Scotland applications now open.

The Sustainable Mobility & Decarbonisation Accelerator powered by Elevator was designed to underpin Scotland’s Net-Zero carbon ambitions. The intensive, fully funded 16-week programme is ideal for companies or individuals who have developed minimum viable products, validated prototypes or possess investor ready solutions focused on sustainable mobility or decarbonisation.

Participants have access to the skills, knowledge, networks and advice to enhance their overall solutions. Elevator's sector specialist delivery partners - Ricardo and Productiv, provide participants with their technical know-how and access to global networks, while ensuring clear development, commercial and marketing pathways exist.

This is a fully funded programme, with a possible stipend for companies with an operating base in Scotland. Managed and funded by Scottish Enterprise, the stipend is up to £7,500 per company and up to £1,500 for technical requirements, if needed.
