Offshore Wind Industry Council (OWIC) Skills Survey

The Offshore Wind Industry Council invites you to contribute data on those of your workforce working to support the offshore wind industry. It is a key part of our Offshore Wind Sector Deal work with the Government The findings of this work will be published in a new Offshore Wind Skills Intelligence Report in Q1 next year.

Last year responses were received from 85 companies, forming the basis of the Offshore Wind Skills Intelligence Report published in February 2021. This study presented a snapshot of the offshore wind industry in 2020, detailing the characteristics of the workforce made up of over 26,000 employees. It was the first study of its kind based directly on data provided by companies across the supply chain and captures job numbers and roles, regional locations, and number of apprentices and new graduates. It also collected data, where available, on gender and ethnicity to enable us to demonstrate that we are a diverse and inclusive sector. The report is available to download here.

This research is vital for the industry to be able to understand and address any shortages in both the short and long term, to ensure the development and delivery of future projects; especially issues which cannot be addressed at project level, but which need an industry wide response. OWIC has committed to report annually on the progress which the industry has made on our Offshore Wind Sector Deal commitments on job creation. Labour market information is vital to inform the investment decisions of academic and training bodies too, enabling them to support the supply of people into the industry.

The link to complete the survey is: https://www.owic.org.uk/skills-survey-submit. We will keep a rolling list of returns on the OWIC website so that you can check if your company as already submitted. We ask to receive responses by 31st December 2021.

Thank you.
