We design, manufacture, and supply power generation and monitoring instrumentation solutions that help reduce CAPEX & OPEX costs. Working with utilities & EPC contractors, we provide transformers for the protection of electrical plant and the accurate measurement of power. Additionally, we also have solutions for the monitoring of array and export cables, providing the unprecedented capability to monitor difficult and remote locations. Providing valuable insights on cable asset condition and helping preventative rather than reactive maintenance.

Capabilities

Good capacity and some experience in supplying the sector

  • CAPEX - Balance of Plant - Manufacture / Supply Services: Electrical system including backup generator, switchgear, transformers & converters
  • CAPEX - Balance of Plant - Manufacture / Supply Services: Electrical system including backup generator, switchgear, transformers & converters

Capabilities to supply, but no/limited experience in the sector

  • Pre-Construction Development Phase (DEVEX): Aux Systems including power supplies & navigational aids
  • CAPEX - Balance of Plant - Manufacture / Supply Services: Export & Array cables & components
  • CAPEX - Balance of Plant - Manufacture / Supply Services: Cable Protection

Ambitions to diversify in the sector

  • CAPEX - Balance of Plant - Manufacture / Supply Services: General Lay Down Areas & Installation Support Services
  • CAPEX - Balance of Plant - Manufacture / Supply Services: Offshore Equipment Services
  • OPEX - Operations & Maintenance: Turbine Maintenance & spare parts
  • OPEX - Operations & Maintenance: Offshore substation maintenance
  • OPEX - Operations & Maintenance: Export & Array cable Surveys & Repairs
  • OPEX - Operations & Maintenance: Onshore Electrical

Case studies

Sofia Wind Farn is located some 195km of the UK east cost. The generation of power by the wind turbines is in Alternating Current (AC). However, the transmission of that generated power to shore is not economically viable or practical due to the loss of power in the cables. The best solution is to convert from AC to Direct Current (DC) which reduces the power loss over the 195km. This requires the building of two convertor stations, one offshore & one onshore.

Contract type: Current Transformer Supply

Value: 110000

Working with the Convertor Transformer manufactured GE, our company designed, manufactured and supplied several current transformers for Sofia Onshore & Offshore converter stations. The design process was extensive due to the environmental conditions encountered during the project's operational stage.

Aberdeen Bay Wind Farm (aka European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre) was a project by Vattenfall to develop technology for offshore wind. With 69% of cable failures located at the terminations or joints within the turbine cable array or export cables. Current technology is unable to identify these areas. As a strategic part of several stakeholders with its expertise in the field of current and voltage transformers, ITL developed a distributed electrical sensing solution that addresses the gap in available cable monitoring technology.

Contract type: Product Supply

Value: 10000

Working with strategic partners, we designed and manufactured transformers integrated into a sensor package to monitor export cables.
