The quality of Scotland's workforce is internationally recognised. With its renowned education system and high ratio of graduates per capita, Scotland surpasses most countries of similar size in Europe.

The area covered by the Forth & Tay Offshore Cluster has award winning colleges, globally recognised universities and first-class training centres and research & innovation hubs to support the growth in the offshore energy sector. There is also a Research and Development Centre which supports and develops new technologies to support the offshore renewable energy sector in the east of Scotland.

Skills development across the Forth and Tay Offshore region is supported by key organisations such as the Energy Skills Partnership a collaboration of Scotland’s colleges and industry partners, which is dedicated to increasing Scotland’s capacity to deliver the right skills for the energy, engineering and construction sectors to meet industry demand.

Training in new technologies and ‘green’ skills is also a key component of the Scottish Government’s 2020 Economic Recovery Implementation Plan. Fostering the conditions for enterprise and innovation, and further developing Scotland’s world class scientific achievements, are core goals for all levels of government in Scotland, as well as sector specific partnerships such as the Forth & Tay Offshore cluster.
