8 November 2023 - Support for SMEs in the Offshore Wind Sector Webinar

The Forth and Tay Offshore Cluster was delighted to host a very informative webinar on Wednesday 8 November, aimed at sharing the support available to SMEs in the Offshore wind sector. We had presentations delivered by Scottish National Investment Bank, the Offshore Wind Growth Partnership, ORE Catapult and Scottish Enterprise.

2022 01 27 FTO Deepwind ScotWind 1 Leasing Round Briefing Session

Forth and Tay Offshore, DeepWind and the Cluster Builder team hosted a briefing session for members to go over the results and the outcomes from the ScotWind 1 leasing Round. At 25GW this is the largest leasing round in Europe and with over 15GW of floating wind projects it has set the scene for Scotland to become the global leader for floating offshore wind development over the next decade.

The briefing explored what this could mean for the supply chain and took a closer look at each of the projects along with input from Northland Power and DEME Concessions to represent the developers view.

Sofia Offshore Wind Farm and its Tier 1 Contractors have launched a series of supply chain webinars to showcase contract opportunities during the construction of this flagship UK development.

Episode I: Van Oord - 6 July 2021
This webinar is about Van Oord’s contracting opportunities on Sofia. Van Oord will deliver the engineering, procurement, construction and installation of the projects foundations and array cables. Potential opportunities will include goods & services for the foundations and array cables packages as well as general and site-related support including infrastructure, transport, vessels, lifting & logistics.

Episode II: GE’s Grid Solutions and Sembcorp Marine - 7 July 2021
This webinar is about GE’s Grid Solutions and Sembcorp Marine contracting opportunities on Sofia. This consortium is responsible for the project’s high-voltage electrical transmission system. The scopes available will include sub-packages for the onshore and offshore converter stations, building services, temporary site infrastructure, welfare facilities, construction materials and electrical equipment.

Episode III: Prysmian - 8 July 2021
This webinar is about Prysmian contracting opportunities on Sofia. Prysmian is responsible for the export cable scope and will require support for packages including: pre-lay survey; horizontal directional drilling; boulder clearance; route clearance/pre-lay grapnel run; mattressing; shore end works; pulling at platform; cable protection system; rock dumping; support vessels and/or heli-service, and land installation.

15 June 2021 - Cluster Builder Launch Event

Offshore Wind Cluster Builder is a new support programme for the Scottish offshore wind supply chain run in conjunction with DeepWind and Forth and Tay Offshore. The Offshore Wind Cluster Builder project is part-funded by the 2014–2020 European Structural and Investment Fund.

The Cluster Builder will help consolidate the offshore wind landscape for SMEs, connecting and simplifying elements of the sector to enable greater engagement by Scottish companies, helping them to capitalise on opportunities presented by offshore wind. SMEs will benefit from 1:1 support, events, workshops and market intelligence, as well as collaboration opportunities.

With speakers from SOWEC, DeepWind and Forth & Tay Offshore as well as Xodus Group, this webinar outlined the Cluster Builder remit, launched the Offshore Wind Scotland Supply Chain Survey and discussed how this will benefit the wider Scottish Supply Chain.

18 November 2020 - Building NnG's O&M Base

The NnG O&M team host a virtual supply chain event on 'Building NnG's O&M base'. This one hour session focused solely on the local supply chain who can support the building work of the project’s O&M base in Eyemouth.

The planning permission is for a new, three storey, 1,040 square metre main building and a two storey, 538 square metre storage warehouse. The O&M base will house the office, warehousing and staff welfare facilities required to support the servicing of NnG once the wind farm is operational. This investment in Eyemouth will bring an economic boost to the area over the 25-year lifespan of the project.

During this session our brilliant presenters focused on what diversity and inclusion is, why it matters for supply chains and focussed the discussion on gender, race and sustainability. The session was well received with positive feedback and a desire from delegates to revisit this topic and expand it to include social background, age and disability too.
